Introduction
GH3030 Solid Solution Strengthened Alloy Tube is a Chinese-designation wrought superalloy broadly comparable to the Nimonic 75 (NiCr20TiC) type. The composition is a nickel base with about 19-22% chromium, small titanium (0.15-0.35%) and aluminum additions, and very little carbon. It is strengthened mainly by chromium dissolved in the nickel lattice, not by precipitated gamma-prime, which means the alloy is stable, readily formed, easily welded and shows no age-hardening. These properties suit complex thin-wall parts that must be rolled, bent, spun and welded.
Resistance to oxidation is the principal strength. The chromium-rich scale protects the alloy in hot air and combustion gas, and the alloy can be used continuously at about 800°C and for short periods higher. It has good thermal fatigue resistance and keeps ductility after long exposure, so welded structures remain reliable. Typical delivery is solution treated at about 980-1020°C followed by air cooling, producing a uniform fine-grain structure. Strength is lower than precipitation-hardened superalloys such as GH4169, so it is chosen where formability and weldability matter more than peak strength.
Typical parts include combustion chamber liners and flame tubes, afterburner and exhaust components, heat shields, furnace muffles and radiant parts, thermocouple protection tubes and industrial gas turbine hot-section ducts. Mechanical values depend on size and temper, so the design values on this page are typical and the order should reference the applicable standard and agreed requirements.
